Burton Sweeps TransWorld Good Wood Board Test
Burton is stoked to announce that an unprecedented five board models in the 2009 line received the covetedTransWorld Snowboarding Good Wood seal of approval. For the first time ever, Burton swept every Good Wood Board Test category. Out of hundreds of snowboards that were put to the test, the Burton Vapor, Hero, Un..Inc, Stria and Blender snowboards were recognized as some of the best boards on the hill this season.
The Burton Vapor, Kevin Pearce’s pipe stick of choice, was at the top of the list for the “Best in Pipe” category. Un…Inc was awarded “Best in Park” in the over $400 category. The Hero, an 09 late release featuring all new VROC technology, distanced itself from the competition by a significant margin and won “Best in Park” in the under $400 category. On the women’s side, the Burton Stria won “Best in Park” in the over $400 category for the second year running. The Blender featuring Scoop Technology won the “Best in Park” in the under $400.
Four of the five winning board models, the Vapor, Un..Inc, Hero and Stria, feature the exclusive Channel system, which provides limitless stance options, easy setup and an unsurpassed connection between your feet and your board.
After a decade of testing, TransWorld Snowboarding continues to bring the benchmark of consumer snowboard reports through the Good Wood test. Over 22 testers ride 150 different board models from 25 different snowboard brands to seek out the best freestyle shred sticks on the planet. Breckenridge hosted the 09 test in early April. Testers took to the park and the pipe and were even treated to a pow day after an unexpected late season dump. Riders put the boards through a series of rigorous tests and chose the best performers based on how they felt on rails, take-offs and landings and general overall fun factor.
