Adidas cut their staff Christmas parties this year so etnies decided to throw one for them.
Adidas' holiday parties cost the athletic apparel company about $6.3 million. Due to the current climate in the economy, their Christmas parties around the world have been canceled. The idea to throw a party for the party-less Adidas employees in a Portland bar was the brainstorm of Sole Tech's Don Brown. In attendance were a handful of Adidas and Nike employees, Sole Tech employees, and tons of media. About 250 people from Portland's skate scene came down to party.
The party, with it's open bar, cost etnies a little under $3000.

Jess Kimura
Congratulations to 32/etnies Girl Canadian team rider Jess Kimura for making SBC Women's Rider of the Month. After winning the Volcom Peanut Butter and Rail Jam finals a few seasons ago, Jessica was sidelined by an injury only to come back stronger than ever with a profile in Snowboard Canada and a feature story in this year's Women's Annual. Keep an eye out for her and see her interview here.Labels: 32, etnies girl

LRG x Coats For Kizzles...thank you!
A HUGE thank you to everyone who contributed to Timebomb Trading and LRG's Coats For Kids campaign, which helped raise almost 250 (!!!) winter coats, mittens, scarves, hats, and snow pants for the South Burnaby Neighborhood House and Burnaby Metrotown Rotary Club.
The people at South Burnaby Neighborhood House (SBNH) were very nice and let Judah and I go along with them to one of their drop-off locations. Photos below. (thanks Judah!!!)
The drop off truck on its way. The SBNH/Burnaby Metrotown Rotary's Coats for Kids campaign collects jackets and donates them to schools as well as agencies like the Burnaby Family Life Institute, which is where we visited.
Parked and ready to roll out with Kimberly Barwich, expert truck driver and Coats for Kids organizer for the SBNH. As you can see, the truck is filled with jackets hung on rolling racks. The kids and their parents come on board and get to do some jacket shopping.
Families can register to receive jackets directly with the SBNH or through their child's school or agencies and community centers like the YWCA.
Chillin.
Hangin while someone else does the shopping. Cute.
Last year, the SBNH collected around 800 jackets in total. Hopefully, your donations helped them to hit bigger numbers this year!
Judah catching a picture of me repping 2 coffees, gettin thangs done.
Inside of the truck. So far this year, the SNBH has visited approximately 30 drop-off locations.
So again, thank you to everyone who helped contribute! It was really cool to see how the whole thing works. You may still donate to the program directly, although Timebomb is no longer accepting donations. Please visit the SNBH website for the address of their office. Drop-offs may be between the hours of 9am-5pm. A special thank-you goes out to the Timebomb staff, Judy and Raiden Louie and the families from Brockton,Boardroom, Gentle Fawn, Global Collective Design/Arson, TNT Agency, JW Sales, and NLA. We could not have raised such an amazing amount of donations without you!Labels: coats for kids, lrg, timebomb

etnies x Electronic Arts
etnies and Electronic Arts Inc. worked together to bring the etnies GvR skateboarding contest to the Skate 2 video game, and to create an etnies Skate 2 RVM shoe for real world skateboarding. Drawing inspiration from etnies skate heritage, the RVM features the classic etnies Rap styling with a slimmed down mid-top silhouette on a vulcanized outsole and a tonal Skate 2 logo on the outer heel. The RVM also features STI System G2 gel in the heel of the outsole to absorb shock and prevent heel bruises. The etnies RVM Skate 2 shoe will be available when the game hits stores in early 2009.Labels: etnies
Bad News !
If you haven't heard the bad news yet our good friend and LRG team rider Chad Dickson was hit by an SUV on sunday night and is currently in the hospital, apparently he's doing alright but has suffered a broken arm and is pretty banged up. We love Chad here at Timebomb as he is one of the nicest guys in the industry not to mention a truly gifted skateboarder, i wish i was posting a solid trick or something positive about you instead of this but for now it's important for us all to be thinking of you and sending our good energy, much love from the Timebomb crew and get well soon !Labels: lrg
etnies reintroduces the RVL
In 1990, etnies debuted the Rap (seen up there on the right in black leather), designed specifically for skateboarding. Two years later, in Plan B's legendary video, Questionable, Sal Barbier helped put etnies on the map in the United States when he rocked both the all red and all blue suede Raps in his part. Shortly after, the Rap, etnies, Sal and Plan B all rose to serious skateboarding fame and skateboarders across the world were singing Del tha Funkee Homosapien. Around the same time, etnies became the first skateboarding footwear brand to advertise in both Big Brothermagazine and 411 video magazine. the Rap, Sal, Ronnie Creager and a few others were featured in those ads.In 1993, to meet the ever-evolving demands of skateboarders, seeing that they were cutting down their high top Raps, etnies released the Rap Low. Beloved and imitated by many, the Rap Low became one of the most staple skateboarding shoes of the early and mid '90s.
For 2009, etnies figured it was due time to bring the Rap back, for real, and evolve a little bit as well. Enter the Rap Vulc Low, (RVL) a mid (RVM) is on the way too. The RVL embodies the classic styling and design of the OG Rap. However, it's been updated for the demands and standards of modern day skateboarding and style. The RVL features a vulcanized construction for superior grip and board feel, System G2 heel gel for impact protection, STI Foam for comfort and protection, lower hidden lace loops and extra laces, padded tongue and collar, elastic tongue centering straps and more. See the Spring 09 colourways here.
