Janek Peladeau Travels To Ecuador For ISA Junior World Championships!

"This March Canada put together a team to compete in the ISA Junior World Championships in Ecuador. The contest consists of the best junior surfers from all over the world. We flew into Guaycil on March 24 and arrived at our hotel in Salinas that night. The contest spot was located in a military base 10 min away from our hotel. It was a left hand point break called La Fae, a super fun wave, long and easy to surf. In the middle of the bay was the free surf area, which was a dumpy beach break.  The contest started on the 29'th, the level of surfing even in the first round was so high, it was amazing to watch. We all surfed on the first day, I was the only one to make it through to round 2. By the next day we were all knocked into the repercharge. Nobody made it past round 2 repercharge.  After we were all knocked out we went to a wave up north to escape the grom infested beach break we had been surfing every day. The wave we went to was a fun right hand reef called Montanita. We stayed there for the rest of the trip." - Janek Peladeau

Janek Cleans up at the CLEAN WATER CLASSIC!  Janek just got back from surfing down in Westport Washington at the Clean Water Classic. He was able pick up 3'rd place in the Men's Pro-Am division and went on to win the under 18!! The summer is off and running for young Peladeau. We wish him the very best in the months to come.  Janek Wins at the RIPCURL ST3W This last weekend I headed over to Tofino for the 3'rd edition of the RipCurl ST3W. I would be lying if I didn't let all of you who didn't make it know that this was one of the best events of the year. It's amazing how many people are coming out to support Canadian surfing! Want to thank Drew, Nelson, Dom and everyone else that helped make this happen. A big high five to Surf Legend Tom Curran for making the trek up north to surf and jam out with the band, GT'S!  Janek showed up and surfed amazing as usual. He narrowly lost out on his first heat in Pro-Am, but used it as a practice. When it was time for the under-18 Janek swam out into a pretty mello swell, but as positive as this kid is he was able to get a few good waves and win!! Congrats Janek.

Logan Landry In Costa Rica And Kicking East Coast!

"I have just been kicking it at home for the past few months. It has been nice because we have had good waves and now the weather is getting warmer. We went on an adventure to the northern part of the province and found some crazy slabs so we'll be heading back soon to document it. As it keeps getting warmer we end up surfing more at the beach breaks, but the crowds are starting to come out, so it could be a long summer. I headed to Costa Rica this last February to train with my surf coach Jim Hogan, we had a really fun run of waves while we were there. We also met up with editor of ESM and got a few shots, so here are a few photos from the last couple of months. The air shot I should have sent in to try and win 50,000 dollars, but live and learn." - Logan Landry

Watch the video "I spent 2 months riding at Camsur water sports complex in the Philippines. I was there for Wake Park Worlds and finished with 5'th in the pro men's wake skate boat contest. I learned a ton of tricks while I was at CWC. Since then I have been hanging out at home riding and filming as much as I can. I recently got a Check Out interview in the summer issue of SBC Wakeboard. Beach Travellers start the season off in Costa Rica

The Beach Travellers are back at it again with another season of touring Canadians around Costa Rica, Brazil and Thailand. The first surf trip this year was May 10'th-22'nd in Costa Rica. Here is a quick update:  "After our first few days in the water, our good friends at magic seaweed started showing a nice S/SW swell due direct for CR. It begun to show it's beautiful 4-5 foot faces while we were finishing the days at our second location. By the time we rolled over the horizon as we arrived at our third and final surf spot of the trip she was 8 foot, offshore, and peeling into the bay.  Those waves were a little big for those on the camp that were new the this CR lifestyle, good thing we pretty much live down here and know where to go when this happens. We put together some 3-4 footers for our new rookies, meanwhile we took a few of the guys that had some previous experience in the water over to our personal secret stash. The un-named right-hand pointbreak that only works with the perfect direction. We'll never tell, you'll never find it.  As everybody boarded the plane on our final day here in CR, there were tears, there were shit eating grins fresh out of the surf, and we even had a few flight changes for two of the guys who decided it wasn't quite time to go home yet... Yet another successful life changing, or ruining depending on how you look at it, BT CR09 surf camp.
