DC’S SKATE AND CREATE SUBMISSION LIVE
Check the Video and Bonus Photos On DC’s Site; Issue Out Now
Nick Dom, 360 flip as seen in the bonus photo gallery at dcshoes.com/skate.
This year DC jumped in for the second annual TransWorld Skate and Create, getting the team together in an empty warehouse to imagine, build, skate, tear down, and repeat for nine days straight. The fruits of the team’s labor has finally reached skate shop shelves and the internet… check out the 5 minute video and the new gallery of photos at dcshoes.com/skate; and the new issue ofTransWorld SKATEboarding for the full feature.
The theme the DC crew went with for Skate and Create was dubbed “In the City”… the thought was to recreate some of the most iconic skate cities ever to allow shredding by some of the best skaters of our time. With SF, NY, LA, and Philly all getting redone with custom black and white backdrops and obstacles, Danny Way, Josh Kalis, Nick Dompierre, Ryan Smith, Wes Kremer and Marquise Henry skated and worked up to 17 hours a day (seriously). For the video of the end result, check out DC's site by clicking here.
Kalis used the chance to recreate a few moments from his past.
The feature in the new issue has all the banger Blabac photos from the 9-day uber-creative session, with a full article penned by Josh Kalis. Like Kalis says in the article, “Man, in our minds, the worst thing we could’ve done was make this thing some big marketing production… We skated each of those spots like we would skate any other street spot anywhere in the world: we rolled up, we yelled when dudes make tricks, we smoked cigs, we drank beers, and we stayed there until everyone had enough time to get theirs.”

DC Staff Photographer Mike Blabac also dug through and pulled a bunch of bonus photos that didn’t make the TransWorld feature. The gallery (click here) is a good place to see these quote-unquote throwaway photos that never would’ve otherwise seen the light of day.

The October 2009 ofTransWorld SKATEboarding is in shops now.
NATE ADAMS WINS X FIGHTERS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE!
Nate, top of the box and a huge acheivement in London.
A win at X Fighters London seals the deal on what Nate Adams is calling the greatest achievement of his career… he has taken the overall championship in the 2009 Red Bull X Fighters Tour.

In today’s FMX world, Red Bull X Fighters is one of the biggest contests with five events globally at super-unique locations, like stock yards, bull rings, and last weekend’s power plant, the infamous Battersea Power Station in London.
Nate brought 360 nacs... the only rider in London doing 360 variations.
This year’s tour all culminated last weekend in London in front of 18,000 fans. Nate was solid in the standings, but without that win in London the overall championship would’ve been impossible. With mechanical precision and 360 variations (the only guy in London doing ‘em), the title belonged to Nate.

Props also go to Nate’s DC Moto teammate Robbie Maddison on taking second overall in the 2009 X Fighters standings. Nate KO’d Robbie in the semi’s in London when Robbie’s bike stalled, rendering it impossible to do tricks. Robbie still locked down a commendable 4th place at Battersea.

Congratulations to Nate and Robbie. For a good video recap with highlights from X Fighters London, click over to redbullxfighters.com.
PASTRANA WINS OJIBWE FOREST RALLY AND 2009 RALLY AMERICA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
After two days of racing in Minnesota, last weekend Travis Pastrana racked up an absolutely huge 9-minute lead to take the win at the Ojibwe Forest Rally. The win also locks down a record fourth-straight Rally America National Championship for Pastrana… an amazing accomplishment considering there are still two events left in the 2009 season! His dominance as of late on the championship is nearly impossible to deny.
Travis slides a dusty MN corner.
On day one things were looking great for Travis and his DC/ Subaru Rally Team USA teammates Dave Mirra and Ken Block. Travis and Ken were battling back and forth for a while until Ken rolled his car on Stage 3, knocking him out. And Dave was doing some of the best driving he’s ever done in competition, running first in class and second overall. The healthy competition between the three on day one opened up a huge lead for Travis—he was 4 minutes ahead by the end of the day.

With Ken unfortunately out, day two saw more bad luck as Dave experienced some electrical issues on the 2nd to last stage and couldn’t finish either. With 26 of the 36 entrants unable to finish, Travis ran away with the win, even going on a streak where he won 12 stages in a row.

For the fourth year in a row, congratulations to Travis on winning the Rally America National Championship. For full daily recaps and photos, check out rally.subaru.com.
DYRDEK AND BLOCK STEP UP (SLIGHTLY) AND BRING GYMKHANA 2.1
Slightly Better Than Gymkhana TWO!
Just like Ken.... only smaller.
How do you improve on DC Co-Founder and Rally Team Member Ken Block’s insane Gymkhana Practice and Gymkhana TWO videos? On the heels of the hilarious episode of “Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory” last night on MTV, DC has released Gymkhana 2.1, a funny new video available now online featuring longtime friends Dyrdek and Block whipping around a Gymkhana course side-by-side—Block in his high-powered Subaru Impreza WRX STI, Dyrdek in his comical and somewhat powerful miniature version of Block’s rally car.
Who's intimidating who? Block and Dyrdek face off.
As seen on MTV’s “Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory”,Gymkhana 2.1 takes the epic cinematography and driving from Block that you’ve come to expect from the Gymkhana videos and mixes in Dyrdek and his “mini-Gymkhana” kart. The two, who have worked together and been good friends since Dyrdek joined the DC skate team in 1995, decided to get the kart built and film the clip when Dyrdek made an appearance in the Gymkhana TWO video earlier this year. A custom mold was made to build the kart nearly identical to Block’s Subaru Impreza WRX STI (except for the head-out-the-roof part). The kart was wrapped in the same graphics as Block’s competition rally car, and a custom fireproof, FIA certified driving suit just like Block’s was even made for Dyrdek by Alpinestars.
The complete version of Gymkhana 2.1features more of what was seen on Dyrdek’s hit MTV show. Filmed in the same high-quality, HD style as the previous installments of Block’s Gymkhana videos, Dyrdek and Block brought the filming crew to El Toro Airfield to document the whole thing. The Gymkhana 2.1 video features all the near run-overs, drifting, racing and shenanigans that occur when two unique individuals like Dyrdek and Block hit the tarmac in polar-opposite-sized whips.
