MARC LACOMARE ADDED TO DC GLOBAL SURF TEAM
Reigning ASP European Junior Champion, Marc Lacomare from Hossegor, France, resigned with the DC Surf Team this week at the DC flagship store in Hossegor, France. The 5-year deal continues Lacomare’s existing two-year relationship with DC as he joins pros Bruce Irons, Dane Reynolds, and Ry Craike and amateurs Dillon Perillo, Garrett Parkes, Jayke Sharpe and Jack Robinson on the exclusive global team.

Lacomare, a multiple French junior champion, is the first rider in the history of the DC Surf program to represent the brand’s apparel in addition to footwear.
A mainstay on the European and junior contest circuits for the last few years, the 19-year-old clinched his maiden ASP European Pro Junior title only a few days ago in the Canaries. Other notable competition highlights include third place at the World Junior Championships in Narrabeen (January 2009), runner-up at the inaugural Oakley Global Challenge in Bali (October 2008), two victories at Pro Junior events in 2009 (Hossegor and Estoril), and ISA European Junior Champion 2008.

About resigning and being added to the apparel program, Lacomare said, “I've been with DC for two years now and have a really good relationship with everyone in the Company. I love the brand and it was a natural step to stay with DC and continue to help promote not only the footwear, but also the apparel collection. DC is giving me the chance to make a name for myself in the US and worldwide. I’m also stoked to work with DC on videos and other projects.”

Looking forward, Lacomare has one year (2010) on the Pro Junior circuit left, but will concentrate more on the big leagues. “I already did a couple of World Qualifying Series (WQS) contests this year to work on my seeding for 2010. I will hit the WQS full time next year, but my eyes are also firmly fixed on the World Junior Champs in Narrabeen and the Oakley Global Challenge.”

On September 22nd, 2009 he will compete in the Quik Pro trials for a spot in the main event, and on October 7th he’ll compete in the Oakley Global Challenge in Bali.

DC DROPS NEW MINISITE FOR DiRT 2 VIDEO GAME
BLOCK, PASTRANA, MIRRA ALL FEATURED
With the new video game DiRT 2 hitting gaming consoles now, we invite you to click over to our newDiRT 2 minisite atdcshoes.com/auto. It’s filled with videos, galleries, contests, and information on how to score a copy of the game… maybe even a free copy if you’re lucky!

Why did DC make a minisite featuring loads of DiRT 2 bonus videos, photos, and information? Because Ken Block, Travis Pastrana and Dave Mirra from the DC Rally Team are all featured in the game, which many are calling more similar to real rally car racing than any other driving game in history.
Pastrana in the DiRT 2 world. How real is that?
Additionally, Ken stepped up to work with Codemasters by acting as Technical Consultant on DiRT 2, sharing his passion and knowledge to help shape the series. Ken took over the DiRT project as consultant for the late Colin McRae, one of rally car racing’s all time greats, after Colin’s tragic passing in 2007. Colin was one of the original visionaries of the DiRT franchise, and shaped it into the best series of driving games out there.

Paying tribute Ken Block said, “It’s so amazing to have DC become a part of this incredible franchise that Colin helped build. I have so much respect for Colin, and I’m humbled to carry on with the work he’s done with the video game series. In respect to rally, this is one of the greatest honors for DC Auto and for me personally.”
Just 500 of these were made. Get yours at store.dcshoes.com. What's more, the first 100 pairs sold get a free copy of DiRT 2.
DC has also created a special version of the Pro_Spec 1.0 driving shoe to celebrate the release of DiRT 2. Loaded with performance DC technologies like DGT™, Drop-In Cushion System™, and Impact Gel™, the shoe features the DiRT 2 logo on the strap and has been colored up using the graphic package from Ken’s competition rally car (with a #43 stamped on the collar as a last touch). Full grain nubuck and leather complete the driving shoe…. Each pair is number 1-500.

NEW VIDEO: KEN BLOCK VINTAGE RALLY CAR PRACTICE
Looks like a beater, but sure doesn't perform like one!

A new Rally video has DC Co-Founder and Rally Team Member Ken Block having a bit of fun in a vintage rear wheel drive Ford Escort at Team O’Neal’s Rally School in New Hampshire. World Rally Championship driver, Chris Atkinson joined Block for the practice and video that resulted, now live at dcshoes.com/auto.

Block purchased the vintage rear-wheel-drive rally car to practice and have fun in. Wanting to broaden his rally skills, the Euro-only-spec 1978 Ford Escort MK2 helps him let loose in a few non-Rally America Championship events. With 280 BHP, the car boasts a four-cylinder Millington engine, sequential gearbox with paddle shift and was converted from right-hand drive.

Block took the car to Team O’Neil’s Rally School in July 2009 to put the vintage rally car through it’s paces, and Former Subaru World Rally Team driver Chris Atkinson joined Block to break it in. Neither Block nor Atkinson have much experience in RWD cars, so the rally session and video is a good look at the two of them to flip flopping between the driver and passenger seats.

Block will enter select races each year with this car, including Rally Defi in Canada this coming weekend, September 11-12. Block returns to serious Rally America National Championship competition—in a Subaru Impreza WRX STI—at Rally Colorado, September 19-20.
