VOLCOM'S GIRLS TEAM NEWSLETTER - NOVEMBER 2009! |
 |
| With the hot summer days and balmy nights a thing of the past, we are now getting ready to embrace these winter months with open arms. Stay tuned for the winter reports; here is a little of what the girls got up to over Summer. |
 |
| 2009 has been an action packed year for Coco Ho. She has just claimed her first ASP World Tour victory in Portugal, followed by a 3rd place finish in Peru. With a long break from ASP World Tour events over the summer Coco spent her time competing in WQS events and photo trips around the globe. After the final event of the WQS series in Brazil Coco was announced as the 2009 WQS title winner. In September Coco was also nominated as one of the top 5 surfers at the 2009 Surfer Poll Awards. Coco will spend the next few months finishing up on the World tour. With five of the seven world tour events being held so far, anything could happen between now and the last event in Maui where the new world champ will be crowned. Keep your eyes on Coco for the remaining two events for 2009 - what a great rookie year so far! |

| This summer Elena Hight spent five weeks on the south island of New Zealand with the US Snowboard team, training and preparing for the upcoming World Cups where she will compete for a spot at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. "I am super excited and anxious about this coming winter," said Elena. "Between the Camp of Champions, Mt. Hood, and New Zealand I spent a little over 2 months on snow this summer shredding and trying to get as prepared as possible for this upcoming season. I am definitely going to be keeping busy between the 5 Grand Prix Olympic qualifiers and the Dew Tours. It's going to be a lot of competing and traveling but I am very excited to get back on snow and have some fun!" Good luck Elena and we'll see you in Vancouver! |

| The summer skate season was a golden one for Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins. In August she took home Gold at Summer X Games and a sweet $40,000 (yes you read right... $40,000) for her multiple McTwist attempts, and her commitment to setting the bar higher for women's vert. Summer also saw the hype up and endless demo tours for launch of Tony Hawk's new video game TH Ride where Lyn-z is one of 13 skaters/characters. Save your pennies as this will be hitting shelves November 17th. |

Cheryl has been in Europe making the most of the early snowfalls in Austria and getting ready for a big winter ahead - her first stop being the Dew Tour in Breckenridge, CO in December. Good luck Cheryl! |
