Scrape by the Lake - 10th Anniversary
Last weekend THE premiere Ontario car show, Scrape by the Lake, celebrated it's 10th Anniversary in serious style down in Niagara. Sponsored by Etnies and LRG, Scrape is run by Faction Sales' own Joe Wing and his renowned Rollerz Only car club. This year the place was packed with over 5000 people and showcased over 700 cars in addition to some skateboard and motocross demos and everybody's favorite 'Miss Scrape by the Lake' bikini pageant.

LAKE FOREST, CA. (July 26, 2009) Today etnies, own Brett Simpson was awarded $100,000 for winning the US Open of Surf in front of his hometown crowd on the south side of the Huntington Beach Pier. This is the largest amount a surfer has ever won at a single contest! I couldn't ask for more than to win that at home. I am so stoked I won my first 6-star WQS event at home!

Experience Bali
Introducing the Bali Focus. From surfer to environmentalist, the Rob Machado Experience continues, this time focusing on Rob's passion for photography and directly applying to his signature frame. Each year while Rob was on tour he would travel with different cameras. One year it would be a 35mm, the next it would be a Polaroid. eS Game of S.K.A.T.E. - Ontario Finals
This past Sunday the Ontario finals for the eS Game of S.K.A.T.E. went down. It was a long contest with over 100 skaters vying for the $500 cash prize. Some seriously intense games went down with the provinces best shredders going head to head, but in the end the last two left standing were the past two years previous winners Mike Mains and TJ Rogers. It was an epic game but in the end the victor would be TJ taking out a super game Mains with a perfectly crispy full cab flip. The hundreds of snowboarders, retailers, media and hipsters at the ThirtyTwo Outerwear Launch Party, in the etnies Showroom in SoHo last night, won't ever forget it! They previewed ThirtyTwo's first- ever outerwear collection, hung out with team riders JP Walker, Joe Sexton and Simon Chamberlain and saw a sneak peak of the ThirtyTwo and StepChild movie “This Video Sucks." A good 75 people took the mass bike ride that ended up with our RVCA rep Gui getting into an altercation with one of those heated MTL drivers. Broken Social Scene - Show of the Year!
If you weren't there then you've probably heard about it and probably know that you missed out BIG TIME! If you were there then you know how epic this show was. Over 6,000 Torontonians packed it in on the edge of Lake Ontario to see their hometown heroes and RVCA friends Broken Social Scene play what has already been touted by local music media as "one of the most significant Canadian concerts of the decade". The band played for nearly 3 hours and were joined on stage by friends Feist, Metric, the Stars, and Jason Collett playing all their classics as well as favourites from the previously mentioned bands. BSS frontman Kevin Drew was even overheard saying "...that was the best show we've ever played". The concert was also filmed my marquee Canadian filmmaker Bruce Macdonald for an upcoming feature film.

The artwork features all the Fucked Up 7" labels from the last few years, with a few secrets and surprises upon closer inspection. This is definitely one for the record collector heads. A collection of seaside visions and summers from the coast
Lifetime Clothing presents a collection that is inspired by all the simple pleasures that warm weather brings to West coast living. Whether it’s hanging out with friends on the beach, biking around the city, or going to shows outdoors, every piece with its unique balance of material, print and color, defines what it means to spend a summer by the ocean.
Colors throughout the line are built on shades of varying degrees of softness and intensity, from sun-bleached hues of pink and blue to bright yellow tints. Prints for the collection range from classic country motifs like plaids and ginghams to more traditional patterns taken to a new scale like gradient blocks, variegated stripes and offset checks.
Overall, many of the garments from the Spring 2010 collection bring about seaside visions. For instance, the Baha-ree-ba, a long sleeved, hooded pull over inspired by the traditional poncho is perfect to throw on if you’re heading to a bonfire on the beach. For ladies in particular, the Lifetime engineered poncho is given a more feminine cut with the short sleeved Tender Force version. Both pieces play off the yellow gold of sand dollars, the aqua shades of the ocean and grey tints of coastal rocks.
This season we took our catalogue shoot to the next level and had the guys at SALAZAR come along to capture a behind the scenes look at the action as it went down. The end result, an amazing video that is a must see before scrolling down.

Shepard and 19 other renowned artists have donated their time and creativity to express the LIVESTRONG message and raise funds for the Lance Armstrong Foundation, which is committed to inspiring and empowering people affected by cancer. The first stop of the traveling exhibition will be in Paris, France, opening 7/17.

NPR INTERVIEW ABOUT BOSTON TRIAL
For anyone who has been following my court case in Boston, a resolution has finally been reached. I was originally facing 34 felony charges with a maximum penalty of 87 years in jail. My attorney negotiated a plea deal for me to plead guilty to three misdemeanors and get two years probation and a fine in exchange for all the other charges being dropped. Considering the tremendous waste of time and money so far, this solution seemed the most productive to end a process which could have dragged on considerably and potentially resulted in jail time if things did not go well for me. I’m glad to put this behind me so I can focus on making art and the other positive things in my life. I have no negative feelings toward Boston, my ICA show has been an incredible success with over 100,000 people attending. I’d like to thank the ICA staff who have been great to work with, and also all the Boston property owners who invited me to display my work on their properties. I will be back in Boston on July 31 for Obey Experiment REDUX, a party celebrating the success of the exhibition at the ICA. I will finally get to DJ at the ICA and my friends Z-Trip and Chuck D will also be performing. After the exhibition closes on 8/16 in Boston, my 20 year survey travels to the Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh For more in depth info on the Boston case, check out this interview.

AKAMP
32 and etnies were proud to sponsor the opening of the AKAMP, a snowboard/ski/skate summer camp in Mont St-Sauveur. Two set-ups were made for the campers : one (first picture) consisted of a jibbing park with ledges and rails and the second had a jump and two rails. A big thumbs up to Max Brochu for this growing event. More than 60 campers were able to shred for a couple of days in the middle of summer, when snow usually is only in our best dreams. thank you to everyone who attended and was a part of NIGHT VISION, the outdoor renegade photo projection show by myself and natasha lands.
it was definitely a special and magical night in vancouver and very inspiring to see such an amazing turn out of people supporting their friends and contemporary photography. 300-400 people were in attendance. my favorite part of it was when people cheered as their friends names came up and clapped when they found a photo to be especially amazing. i hope you managed to stay dry and my apologies if you did not!

Broken Social Scene + Feist + New Song = Awesome
A couple weeks ago at the staple Toronto music week NXNE, RVCA friends Broken Social Scene took to the stage for a special surprise show where they reunited with old friend and bandmate Leslie Feist to showcase some new tunes, which were seriously way too awesome. Emerica gets together with artist and skateboarder Pontus ALV to collaborate on a sneaker. The sneakers comes in light grey colorway and features turquoise accents and lining. Huge amount of shouts to Blaise for putting this down every single year. Always amazing and this Kirkstone edition was no different. The proof was over 60 people turning up to enter and ride, as well as tricks getting done in this park that have never been done, huge transfers, massive fly-outs to the grass field over the ridiculous height fence, as well as the young riders throwing down bigger than they should be able to. 3 Ride, TSG, etnies, LRG, Haro, Premium and Dragon all helped out the cause. CUSTOM NIXON WATCHES AWARDED TO WINNERS OF THE SECOND ANNUAL MALOOF MONEY CUP
Nixon was on hand to support the second annual Maloof Money Cup this past weekend in Orange County, California and awarded three, custom Nixon watches valued at $10,000 to the winners of Street, Vert and women’s Street. After three fierce days of competition is was Chris Cole (Street), Alex Perelson (Vert) and Leticia Bufoni (women’s Street) who each walked away with big checks, top honors and custom Nixon 51-30’s designed by 2008 Maloof Street Winner Paul Rodriguez and Nixon team rider, Colin McKay.
According to Nixon’s Marketing Director, Chad DiNenna, “Everybody loves a big payday when you win this event. The addition of these custom, limited watches gives a little extra something that will be around well after the money has been spent and is a lot easier to carry around than a trophy!”
The Maloof Money Cup 51-30 features a 6 hand chronograph with over 2 carats of diamonds on a black, high-polish case and features a custom engraved caseback with a combination python snakeskin and hand cut Italian leather band.
